About us
Oban is a town in the county of Argyll and Bute on the beautiful north west of Scotland. Oban is a hub of activty for locals and visitors alike with a busy ferry port connecting the mainland to the inner and outer Hebrides.

Our Oban Plastic Reduction Iniitiative steering group is made up of local individuals, organisations and businesses who wanted to get together to help to reduce the consumption of single-use and avoidable plastics in and around the town.
Our aims
The purpose of the steering group is to promote, co-ordinate and support actions in the Oban area which then support and encourage residents, businesses and visitors to:

reduce or phase-out the use of avoidable and single-use plastics in Oban;

re-use plastic items where possible;

ensure that the plastics we use are recyclable, effectively collected and recycled, and;

use sustainable alternatives.
